Gareth Bale has admitted it would be a dream to lift the Champions League trophy with Real Madrid next weekend.

The former Tottenham star, who completed a world record £85million move to the Spanish capital last summer, is confident Real Madrid can win their tenth European cup against Atletico Madrid, in what will be the first ever Champions League final contested by two sides from the same city.

And in an exclusive interview with TV presenter Claire Balding on BT Sport 1, Bale admits that he's confident, but expects Atletico to be tough opponents.

"It’s going to be very interesting," Bale said.

"We know how well they’ve played this season and we know what we’re capable of so I think as long as we execute our game plan on the day then hopefully we do win.

"I think we have a lot of confidence going into the game and something we’re looking forward to.  Obviously it would be a dream if we lift the trophy."

Bale's transition from North London to Madrid was always going to be a bit of a culture shock, but the Welshman admits he has been helped by former Spurs team mate Luka Modric and Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We [Bale and Modric] were there for five years together at Tottenham and we actually got on really well there as well so having him here obviously was a massive plus for me," he added.

"Just being able to go in to the group and knowing someone, hanging around with them rather than feeling I am stuck on my own, it’s been a great help on and off the pitch and obviously I’m thankful for that.

"I think since the first step that I made into Real Madrid he [Cristiano Ronaldo] has been absolutely amazing with me.

"He’s given me advice on and off the pitch, with football matters and not and he’s given me advice where to live and stuff like that."

Gareth Bale was speaking on The Clare Balding Show, to see the full interview tune in to BT Sport 1 at 8pm on Thursday 15th May.
