When you have Harry Kane up front, who else do you need?

Well, everyone needs some help at some stage and like every club this time of the year, Tottenham will be keeping an eye the striker position and looking to strengthen.

In a season that surpassed all expectations at White Hart Lane, Spurs' style of play was often a joy to behold, as they simply outplayed many teams, and Kane himself increased his worth to club and country in the process.

Kane is a clinical striker, and whilst there are plenty of good forwards around, there aren't many with that kind of eye for goal and a consistent record in the finest leagues around Europe.

25 league goals, and 28 in all competitions - plus his scoring exploits for England - will mean that Tottenham will want to hold onto their prized possession and give a strike partner. Only Clinton N'Jie and Heung-min Son have played regularly as forwards in the past, while Erik Lamela, as well Dele Alli, has been tasked with getting forward more of late, so support for the north London hero is thin on the ground.

With something like a £50m-£60m war chest available, and Champions League football to tempt a player with, who might Tottenham look at? Here are FIVE stars plying their trade across Europe...

Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi is currently a forward that quite a few teams are looking at. The Belgian has already suggested that he wants to stay in Ligue 1 with Marseille, but the lure of bigger bucks and Champions League football could prove too much for this young striker.

The 22 year old scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 and it's now thought that he might command upwards of £20-£25m for his services. And while Batshuayi might prefer a move to the Premier League, his club Marseille is going to sell him to whatever club coughs up the biggest amount of dough. That's unlikely to be Tottenham, unfortunately, unless they decide that he's their main target.

Alexandre Lacazette

He is the one of the stars of Ligue 1. Lacazette fuelled Lyon’s title challenge with a league-high amazing 27 goals in just 31 games last season. 21 goals this term makes this player a target for Premier League clubs and is valued at £25m-£30m. He finished the season just gone second only to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the scoring stakes in Ligue 1.

Edinson Cavani

The PSG man has hinted at a move back to Italy, but Cavani had a dreadful first half of the season with injuries and a well publicised fallout with Laurent Blanc. However having scored 18 goals in his final 23 games, the Uruguayan is on fire. He often saved his goals for big moments as well, nabbing the equaliser in PSG’s Champions League home leg against Chelsea before striking in the both domestic cup finals to help his team a historic French treble. There can be no doubt that he is one of the best strikers in the world.

Islam Slimani

The Sporting CP striker is an Algeria international who was linked with a move to Leicester last summer and has had a tremendous season with the Portuguese club. Slimani scored 26 goals in 32 league games and his hard-working playing style and low-key personality would suit most Premier League clubs. The 27-year-old said recently that he was happy to stay at the club but Sporting could listen to offers in the region of £25m.

Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain has enjoyed an impressive season with Napoli, and it would not be an injustice to say that Higuain had acquired legendary status in Italy, by finishing the Serie A season with 36 goals. Napoli are under no immediate pressure to sell, especially after Saturday’s win sealed second place and automatic qualification to the Champions League group stage, but the player’s contract runs through only to 2018 and he is understood to have a €94m release clause in place. This may be a bit much for Tottenham, but certainly all the qualities Pochettino would admire.
