Tottenham Hotspur moved up into second place ahead of Sunday's Premier League action with a stunning 4-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

A hat-trick from Harry Kane and a Christian Eriksen strike that was given as a Gareth MacAuley own goal provided the victory, but it was Spurs' general performance that really caught everyone's eye.

They absolutely battered the Baggies from start to finish and only Ben Foster prevented it from being a cricket score.

Liverpool can retake second place tomorrow but have a very tough match away to red hot Manchester United. Regardless, Spurs are now well placed and in good enough form to mount a serious title challenge over the next few months.

Overall it was a fantastic day for Spurs fans and they can now look forward to next week's match with Manchester City.

Here are FIVE great photos that summed up all the action...

Harry Kane scored the third Premier League hat-trick of his career on Saturday, looking in superb form throughout the 90 minutes.

All three finishes were sublime but it was his first, a powerful drive, that was perhaps the pick of the bunch.

It was a goal that set the tone for Spurs who never looked back from then on.

He's now scored 13 Premier League goals this season and is well in contention to finish the campaign as the nation's top scorer.

Top teamwork

Harry Kane's hat-trick was not a solo effort. He combined expertly with the teammates around him to penetrate the Baggies defence.

Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli were particularly impressive but praise too must go to Danny Rose and Kyle Walker, who were a constant thorn in West Brom's side across the 90 minutes.

It's that kind of teamwork that is setting Spurs apart right now and if they can keep it up, the sky is the limit.

 Fearless Foster

Saturday's game was so one sided that it genuinely could have been a game that ended seven or eight goals to nil. Only the Baggies goalkeeper Ben Foster was the man standing in the way of that.

He made seven saves across the 90 minutes, many of them either awkward to get to or requiring the English goalkeeper to be at full stretch.

Despite losing four goals, it was a solid performance from Foster.

Tactical dominance

Much of the chatter before the match was how Pochettino's side would be able to get at Pulis'. The West Brom manager has set his teams out to defend superbly at some tough away grounds this season and many thought his side would hold on for longer than they did.

It's a testament to Pochettino's expertise that he fielded a team and system that completely bypassed West Brom's defensive gameplan.

Pulis was outfoxed and the Baggies ended up being outgunned.

In it together
