Spurs’ squad for their trip to CSKA Moscow is a depleted one.

It was confirmed today that Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose and Harry Kane will all be missing as the Lilywhites look to get their Champions League campaign off and running, hinting that a few fringe players will be thrust into the line-up.

With a number of obsolete ‘stars’ having left the north of London during the last window, Spurs’ options aren’t as plentiful as many would suspect. That means that Mauricio Pochettino will be somewhat forced to rotate his pack, but that’s not bad thing.

With the prospect of games over the coming weeks, players battling to force their way into ‘Poch’s’ plans will be chomping at the bit to get on the pitch.

Of course, the XI that will take on CSKA Moscow is unknown yet, but here are FIVE players we think may get a chance…

With Danny Rose not yet back from his injury set-back, the Wales international should get the nod by virtue of there being no other options of convincing quality.

The 23-year-old has been in and out (mostly out) of the Spurs side since his move to White Hart Lane from Swansea, and with the Londoners playing well he will want to do all he can to cement his role in Mauricio Pochettino’s XI.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

Having come on as a late substitute to make his league debut in the win over Middlesbrough on Saturday just a few days after making his official bow in the EFL Cup victory over Gillingham, K’Koudou could be thrust in in Russia.

With pace and direct running, he may be a threat on the break and might supply the sort of width to stretch CSKA.

Josh Onomah

One of the youngsters nearest breaking through to the senior XI on a regular basis, Onomah may well be disappointed if he doesn’t get a go.

With the likes of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele both out, Onomah may be seen as the ideal partner for Victor Wanyama, with his physicality and mobility likely to be key alongside the big Kenyan as Pochettino will want a strong spine to his side for a tough away fixture.

Vincent Janssen

Janssen is in need of goal. With Harry Kane out of action the Dutchman is Pochettino’s only real option, so he can expect to be trusted in Russia. Chances are sure to be supplied for the summer signing, whose quality should shine through eventually.

Harry Winks

With players rested and injured, Pochettino may opt to go for a tight three-man central midfield, and Winks might get game time.

It’s hard to see the 20-year-old being thrust in from the very start, but coming from the bench the midfielder may be a good option, especially with his confidence high after the EFL Cup win.
