It's been a decent enough start for Tottenham this season.

They travelled to Everton on the opening day as they looked to spoil the welcome party at Goodison Park for Ronald Koeman, and came away with a point. Then they beat Crystal Palace late at the Lane with a goal from new boy Victor Wanyama before drawing 1-1 with the other Merseyside club, Liverpool.

Five points from the first three games isn't a bad return and now the impetus will be on the side to kick on as they approach the Champions League group stages. The club will also be hoping that Vincent Janssen and Harry Kane find their goal-scoring touch as the season goes on as well as the rest of the team aiming to improve on their performances last season.

Mauricio Pochettino might feel, though, a few extra players could still be handy and so we're bringing you five players from Serie A the club should look at...

Andrea Ranocchia

The Italian defender is 6 foot 5 inches tall so certainly wouldn't get bullied in the Premier League.

Although he's an Inter Milan player he spent the latter part of 2015/16 on loan at Sampdoria so he could be available for a transfer in the last few days of this window too.

At the age of 28 he's in his prime and would give Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld fresh competition at the back.

Lorenzo Insigne

Looking at the way Spurs set up they don't have much pace on the wings and that means they don't have much of an outlet when under the cosh.

Most games you'd argue they might not need that but in the big games it could prove vital so Insigne would be an ideal acquisition.

The Napoli man is rapid out on the left and has the ability to be the difference in the closest fought games.

Jose Callejon

Callejon is a typical second striker that can play off the main forward in a front line. He drops into space and can both set up and chip in with goals and this could be vital for Spurs.

When Mauricio Pochettino has played Vincent Janssen and Harry Kane together one of them has to drop deeper and that is not what either are best at.

If Pochettino wants to persist with two forwards though, Callejon would be ideal.

Ivan Perisic

Ivan Perisic

Perisic is a very direct winger and this again would give Spurs another dynamic going forward.

The game against Liverpool at the weekend highlighted what pace can do in the big games with Sadio Mane one of the standout performers and though Spurs got a draw, the Reds should have put the game out of sight.

If Tottenham had a player like Perisic, though, they'd be able to have that option Liverpool had and win games like the one on Saturday in the future.

Milan Badelj

Milan Badelj

The Fiorentina midfielder is the perfect Pochettino player.

He can play in the holding midfield role and knows how to control the tempo of a game with his passing so he'd fit in nicely to Spurs' two deep lying midfield positions.

The club have awash of players that can fit into this role but none like the Croatian who does the role well for both club and country.
