Clint Dempsey’s Premier League days were over when he announced he was leaving Tottenham and moving back to his home country, but he’s still doing all he can to make the headlines from across the pond.

Currently playing for Seattle Sounders, he recently received a two game ban for violent conduct during a game against Toronto FC.

The former Tottenham and Fulham midfielder slapped Toronto’s Mark Bloom in the groin for no apparent reason. The referee, however, missed the incident and Dempsey got away with it. But thanks to video technology, the MLS disciplinary committee didn’t miss it and later slapped a two game banned on the current Seattle Sounders and USA captain.

Maybe not the smartest move from the captain whose job is to lead by example…
