Real Madrid are confident they can beat rivals Barcelona to the signing of Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale with a bid of €50 million.

The Welsh international has constantly been a target for the Spanish giants since excelling in the Champions League two seasons ago.

Bale has continued to impress with his performances for both club and country and Real Madrid are now confident they can persuade Bale to join former team mate Luka Modric at the Bernabeu.

Spanish publication AS have reported that Madrid are confident they can out-muscle Barcelona with a bid of €50 million which will also see the 23-year-old earn €2.2million a year.

Spurs are in a strong position to bring in large amounts of money for the midfielder who has recently signed a four year extension to his contract, but the midfielder has admitted that he would be open to a move.

“If you are talking about Barcelona or Real Madrid, two of the biggest clubs in the world, then it's a once-in-a-lifetime dream," Bale told The Sun last year.

“If you said to any young player that you could play for Barcelona or Real would they turn it down? Probably not.

“If a bid was accepted you would obviously have to seriously consider it.”
