Spurs have been quiet and methodical in the transfer market this summer. While some of their rivals have been throwing the cash around and boldly shouting about their big name signings, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have addressed areas of weakness and looked at keeping what made them so effective last season in place.

Indeed, they’ve only signed two players in the shape of Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama, but the former offers the support Harry Kane has been crying out for for some time, while the latter brings the sort of midfield presence the Lilywhites somewhat lacked when their 2015/16 title charge imploded late on.

This all sounds positive, but there’s one area yet to be addressed: the wings. The Londoners boast plenty of technically adept attacking midfielders, but pace is somewhat lacking, as is a player whose natural tendency is to drift into wide positions and maintain the balance of the team.

Signing attacking players is always exciting, as is, 7 Of The Best! We’ve teamed up with 7OTB to bring you a footballing treat for the season. It’s free to play and the best team each week wins £1,500, as well as monthly prize of £4,000 for the best individual. Want to win bigger? Nab yourself a whopping £500k if you get all seven of your selections correct for seven consecutive weeks.

How do you play? All you need to do is pick seven teams each week, one being your banker, five being teams you expect to win and one you believe will draw.

So with the theme of seven in mind and Spurs’ need for a winger, here are SEVEN they could sign before Wednesday’s transfer deadline…

Wilfried Zaha

With pace and a direct playing style, Zaha offers something a little different to Spurs’ current crop of attacking midfielders. Indeed, the Lilywhites seem to operate with a line of three whom are all keen to drift inside, and although this works against a team that wants to play open football, a lack of width can leave Pochettino’s side looking cluttered when they meet opposition ready to sit back.

Zaha may not offer numbers in terms of assists and goals, but the London club are interested in the Crystal Palace wide-man.

Rafa Silva

Portugal are adept at producing wingers, and one of the latest off the conveyer belt is Braga’s Rafa Silva.

Already linked with Spurs this summer, the 23-year-old is pretty old fashioned in his approach to the role, with his pace enabling him to beat full-backs, while his technique allows him to supply crosses and link-up with his strikers effectively.

At his age, the time seems right for Silva to step out of the Primeira Liga.

Yacine Brahimi

A real ‘sit up and take notice’ signing for Spurs would be Brahimi of Porto.

The Algerian has long been talked about as one of the top wingers in European football, and has been seemingly itching to get away from Portugal after establishing himself in the Primeira Liga after his 2014 move from Spanish side Granada.

With pace, a goal threat and creativity in his boots, the 26-year-old, on paper at least, seems like the perfect signing for the London club.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

Reportedly training with Spurs already amid his ‘will he, won’t he?’ transfer saga, N’Koudou, although a little raw, would be a fine alternative option to Pochettino’s current crop.

Comparisons have been drawn with the name he’d likely replace, Clinton N’Jie, but the Marseille ace has a little more about him in terms of game intelligence and doesn’t rely as heavily on his pace as the man Spurs signed from Lyon a year ago.

[ad_pod id='7OTB' align='center']

Andriy Yarmolenko

Not uber-speedy, Yarmolenko would be a good hybrid between a natural winger and the sort of ball-playing attacking midfielders Pochettino seems to like.

The Ukrainian has been a key player for Dynamo Kiev for some time now and has notched 27 league goals to help his side to back-to-back titles in his homeland.

Yarmolenko, 26, is unlikely to come cheap though so late in the transfer window.

Rachid Ghezzal

Although Alexandre Lacazette has been creating the bulk of the headlines at Lyon for some time, Ghezzal has been mightily impressive for the Ligue 1 side.

The Algerian ace is a natural winger in that he likes to stay wide and is adept at driving towards the goal line to play cut-backs, which contributed to his eight league assists last term.

Ante Coric

A young, unproven option here, it’s surely only a matter of time before Coric leaves Dinamo Zagreb in his homeland, with the 19-year-old already a full international with Croatia – he was part of their EURO 2016 set-up.

The teenager is able to operate from a wide role, although long-term his technical attributes suggest that being a ‘No.10’ will suit him.
