After the hope and optimism of the summer, winter seems to have only brought with it a sense of what might have been for Tottenham. The club’s lavish spending saw them tipped to challenge for the title, but under AVB’s stewardship unfortunately this push never seemed to materialise. Sacked in December and with Tim Sherwood now at the helm it will be about reviving these hopes rather than dwelling on the past.
The Premier League club are by no means far away from achieving their objectives; January will mean tweaking rather than another mass overhaul. A big name or two could well be enough to bring back some much-needed confidence and re-energise the fans for the New Year ahead.
