Tottenham have emerged as one of the possible destinations for Antoine Griezmann, who looks certain to move on from Real Sociedad at some stage this summer.

The French international always looked the most logical choice to replace Gareth Bale, either last summer or this, over Erik Lamela – and that’s regardless of the Argentine’s difficulties last term.

Griezmann, though not up to Bale’s standard yet, has steadily shown improvement at the Basque club and now looks ready for a step up.

But Tottenham will have a lot to do to fight off other interested parties. Both Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea remain possibilities for Griezmann.

But if they can get a deal wrapped up for the forward, here are six players who could follow him to White Hart Lane.

Michel Vorm

Michel Vorm is close to a move to Spurs, but the Dutchman raises more questions than answers. What does his signing mean for Hugo Lloris, who recently penned a new contract with the club?

Vorm has been in good form for Swansea over the past couple of seasons, but he is evidently a little way off matching the qualities of Tottenham’s current No.1. It may not be too far off the mark to assume Vorm’s arrival will pave the way for Lloris’ departure at some point over the next 12 months.

If, however, Tottenham are just taking advantage of a situation to strengthen their goalkeeping department, then it’s a very good move on their part, with little being spent on the duo of Vorm and Ben Davies from Swansea.

Morgan Schneiderlin

It appears that Arsenal have some competition in the race for Morgan Schneiderlin’s signature this summer, with Spurs also said to be interested in the French international.

Tottenham were left disappointed by their central midfield acquisitions last summer and could sell Paulinho to make way for Schneiderlin during this window. The Brazilian was one of many to have a disappointing World Cup for the host nation, but there does appear to be interest around Europe and Spurs would do well to replace him with someone of Schneiderlin’s calibre.

Wilfried Bony

Spurs were recently said to be out of the race for Wilfried Bony, but with Daniel Levy, anything is possible late on in the window.

Bony had a good debut season in the Premier League, scoring 16 goals. He’s now been linked with a move away from Swansea and would be a good signing for Tottenham if they were to reignite their interest.

Able to offer the same qualities as Emmanuel Adebayor but without the hassle, Bony would prove to be a good bit of business for a team looking for stability in attack.

Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke was one of the major talking points during last summer’s transfer window, with Aston Villa able to hang on to the Belgian international. But after a slump in form during his second season in the Premier League, interest in Benteke has dropped significantly.

But this could be the perfect time for Spurs to make a move for the striker, who they were heavily linked with last summer. Roberto Soldado has been a major disappointment, but Benteke knows the league well and could hit top form again with a change of scenery.

What is certain is that Villa would be unable to command the kind of figures they were asking for last summer.

Stefan de Vrij

There were rumours linking Stefan de Vrij to Manchester United during the World Cup, understandably due to the links with Louis van Gaal. But as yet, the defender is still at Feyenoord with talk having died down of a move to Old Trafford.

But there is interest from England, with Southampton said to be eyeing the Dutch international. Tottenham, however, would prove to be a good destination for the 22-year-old, who can also fill in at right-back.

After a good World Cup with the Netherlands, de Vrij looks ready for the step up from Dutch football to the Premier League.

Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld may wish to push for a move away from Atletico Madrid this summer after failing to get regular games at the Vicente Calderon last term. The former Ajax defender is a natural centre-back but has played at right-back for both club and country over the past year. A move to Spurs would certainly see him move back to the centre of defence.

Alderweireld was highly spoken of during his time in Dutch football, with Atletico doing well to snap up the Belgian amid plenty of interest from England. But with his future in doubt, Tottenham could look to offer him a way out and a partnership with countryman Jan Vertonghen.
