Fresh off the transfer rumour mill this morning, Tottenham are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford, currently with Derby County.
The 20 year-old netted 14 times for League One side MK Dons in the first half of the season before switching his loan allegiances to the Rams in January. He’s since produced a sensational return of five goals in seven Championship appearances.
The England U21’s sensational campaign has seen his stock dramatically rise in recent weeks, but the chances of him making it into the Chelsea first team any time soon are incredibly thin. There are countless talented youngsters caught up the Blues’ globe-spanning loan system, and it’s more than likely Bamford will be sold for profit without ever featuring at senior level for his parent club.
Nonetheless, Tottenham are prepared to take a transfer punt on the in-form striker at the end of the season.
But Spurs won’t be the only club hot on Bamford’s heels in the summer, and Chelsea will expect a decent return on their original £1.5million investment paid to prize the youngster away from Nottingham Forest in 2012.
