talkSPORT are reporting that the race to sign Brazilian hot property Willian is between Tottenham and Chelsea, after Inter Milan have ruled out a move for the in form Shakhtar star.

Marco Branco, Inter's Sporting Director told Sky Italia, "It's not down to where we are in the table whether we will make signings in January, there are other factors to consider.

"At this moment in time, there is no way we will be investing in January for other reasons. It's the same situation in many other industry sectors, we're in an economic crisis."

These comments are thought to reignite the interests at both White Hart Lane and Stamford Bridge, with both clubs short on strikers. While Tottenham have Jermain Defoe and out-of-form and out-of-favour Emmanuel Adebayor, Chelsea need cover or a replacement for Fernando Torres, who, once again, is failing to find the net consistently.

Both clubs expressed their interest in Willian over the summer but Shakhtar's demands were too high and a move failed to materialise. However, impressive performances from the youngster in both the Ukrainian top flight and Champions League, now means both teams are set to fight it out in January.

It is thought that the Brazilian would be interested in a move to England but Premier League clubs may have to shell out upwards of £17 million for his services.
