West Brom captain Darren Fletcher has warned Tottenham that they’ll have to pay much more than the suggested £15m if they want to sign Saido Berahino this summer.

The Lilywhites have reportedly made the England U-21 international one of their major transfer targets for the last month of the window as Mauricio Pochettino plots to add depth and quality to his attacking ranks.

Berahino was one of the Baggies’ major stars in 2014/15, with his 14 Premier League goals vital as Tony Pulis’ side coasted to a midtable finish.

However his future has been in doubt since the winter period when he claimed that he’s ready to move on to “bigger things”, and his recent split from agent Aidy Ward could also further open the door for a deal.

But, Fletcher has warned Tottenham that they’ll have to cough up a significant figure if they’re serious about luring the pacey striker to London:

“He’s vital to us – he’s our main goalscoring threat,” he told talkSPORT.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him, since the day I stepped in the door and getting to know him and passing on some advice, he’s been top class – his attitude on and off the pitch.

“He’s come back this season even hungrier, he was really disappointed to miss the Under-21 European Championships and he really wants a big season this year – he’s one of those players who constantly does your head in as he always wants the ball.

“He’s very important to us, I think we’ve got a good chance of keeping him – it’ll take a real big offer to take him away because of how much quality he has.

“The figures branded, I’ve seen £15million – I can’t see the club selling him for that, it’ll take a lot more than that because of how important he is."
