Tottenham have gotten off to a fairly decent start this season as they look to emulate the feats of last year.

A tough looking opening day fixture on paper away at Everton saw the men from White Hart Lane get a 1-1 draw courtesy of Erik Lamela's head before their first home game against Crystal Palace. That match saw them leave it late to score but score they did as it finished 1-0 leaving the club with a solid return of four points from the opening two weeks.

Particularly impressive has been Spurs' midfield options given the fact their goals have been scored by the aforementioned Lamela and new signing Victor Wanyama.

It's a trend Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping continues as goals from midfield could just see them get near the title as well as go far in Europe.

This in mind, the Argentine manager might think it's best to bolster their midfield before Deadline Day to maximise their goal-scoring threat so we've identified three midfielders that would make Spurs even more formidable...

Moussa Sissoko

Sissoko is too good to be in the Championship this season and there's little doubt that he knows that too.

The French international has the ability to carry the ball great distances and convert defence into attack swiftly, something key in Pochettino's tactical blueprint.

He's of similar playing style to Mousa Dembele and Wanyama but Poch is a fan of these kind of players and surely wouldn't hesitate at getting another in.

Hakan Calhanoglu

Spurs have been linked with the young Turkey international so a deal could be in the offing.

He's scored eleven goals since joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 but it's his ability to create chances and knit play together that make him a coveted man.

Spurs are likely one of the few clubs that can tempt him away because of their Champions League participation this season so keep an eye out for this one in the next week.

Charles Aranguiz

It could be a double blow for Leverkusen if Spurs set their sights on Aranguiz too.

The Chilean midfielder started off as a permanent fixture for the Bundesliga side before a torn achilles sidelined him for the majority of the campaign.

Whether Spurs would want to take the risk remains to be seen but he came to Europe with a good reputation from South America and would be the ideal foil for Calhanoglu.
