Tottenham's 2015/16 campaign ended in a bit of a typical manner. The hopes of a first Premier League title since before the invention of the wheel crumbled beneath them as they succumbed to a resurgent Chelsea and ended the entire season with a drubbing away at the already-relegated Newcastle.

West Ham, meanwhile, suffered similar disappointment as their over-achieving first few months saw them raise their expectations before an underwhelming end to the season climaxed without the top four slot that they once dreamed of. However, in the first campaign for Slaven Bilic it was a massive achievement to even compete with the far richer clubs in the top six.

Next season, Tottenham will be dreaming of a title once again, whilst West Ham would be more than satisfied to just slot in to that top six.

As Tottenham envisage a glorious campaign, they could do with picking a few from their London rivals.

Maybe these THREE would be a good start...

Angelo Ogbonna

ogbonna

Angelo Ogbonna was one of the Premier League's best central defenders last season and would be the near-perfect player to fill the central defensive void left by Jan Vertonghen, who continues to suffer injuries on an alarmingly regular basis.

The West Ham star was a stalwart during their excellent campaign last time around and has both the pace and power to operate in the higher line that Mauricio Pochettino often favours.

As ever, a signing of this calibre would have two positive consequences. It would not only substantially strengthen Spurs, but also weaken West Ham and leave them short of their best defender.

Dimitri Payet

Dimitri Payet 1

Although Payet has recently said he is happy at West Ham, we know that all too often this does not hold firm against the interest of other clubs who can offer more money and Champions League football.

West Ham's talisman continued his supreme form at Euro 2016, where he starred for France, and is one of the most sort after attacking midfielders in world football at the moment. Despite a mid-season injury, Payet scored nine and assisted 13 during the Premier League last season and consistently looked more of both a creative and goal threat than either of Erik Lamela or Christian Eriksen.

It would take an enormous fee, but a signing like Payet would be a phenomenal signal of intent from Spurs, even if it would contradict much of their recent transfer policy.

Cheikhou Kouyate

Kouyate1

Kouyate is a mobile, versatile midfield player who can operate in a number of different roles. Even filling in at centre-back on occasion last season, Kouyate would most likely play in the box-to-box slot in the Spurs side, alongside Eric Dier.

Many will associate Kouyate with more defensive roles, but his rangy running from deep in midfield can make him a real asset for any side who are looking to be quick in transition.

Whilst he has averaged over two interceptions and over two tackles per match, Kouyate can break through the lines and provide that extra man run that is so troublesome to opponents.
