Following successive defeats against Monaco and Chelsea, Tottenham have bounced back with two big home wins against Swansea City and CSKA Moscow, and one of the main reasons for this was the form of midfielder Christian Eriksen.

After a slow start to the campaign, the Dane played a key role in both of the victories, while he also scored his side’s goal in the 2-1 defeat to Antonio Conte’s men – the first time the Blues had conceded in seven matches – last month.

He was pretty special against CSKA, as our graphic shows...

His strike against Spurs’ London rivals was the 24-year-old’s first of the season and over the course of the past three matches he has shown that he is starting to recapture the form that saw him score six goals and pick up 13 assists in the top flight last term as the club went close to winning the Premier League title.

Here are THREE ways Eriksen is currently showing how influential he is to this Spurs team…

The Danish attacking midfielder scored six Premier League goals as Spurs went oh-so-close to winning the title last year, and following his brace against Swansea at the weekend – where he got himself in more dangerous positions than he had previously – he is already halfway to that total this season.

The quality of his finish in the defeat to Chelsea shows the goal threat that he brings from outside of the box, and Pochettino will want to see more strikes like that in the coming weeks and months.

Creativity

Eriksen provided 13 assists last season but that creativity and quality on the ball has been missing at times so far this term as Tottenham have struggled to turn draws into wins - especially when Harry Kane was on the sidelines because of injury.

However, the Dane – who has shown how comfortable he is with both feet – assisted Son Heung-min for his acrobatic strike against Swansea and he was also instrumental in two of his side’s goals against CSKA in midweek, too, showing that when he is on form his side are far more prolific than when he isn’t.

Work rate

Eriksen

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is known for demanding that his players are sharp and press the opposition when they have the ball, and as well as his quality in front of goal and his creativity, Eriksen has shown he will work hard for the team, and that has been crucial in the last two games.

The 24-year-old has been all over the pitch and has been especially effective on and off the ball in the final third.
