Spurs boss Tim Sherwood has identified the 30-year-old as a replacement for Jermain Defoe, who will join MLS side Toronto at the end of February. Quagliarella is out of favour at Juve, and has reportedly been told he can leave the Serie A champions.
The London club had been linked with fellow Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic, but it seems instead will look to sign the Italian striker instead, possibly for £4million. Franco Boldini is braced to fly out to Turin to secure a deal should the clubs agree on a transfer fee.
The forward is desperate to play first team football in a bid to get into Italy’s World Cup squad, and could be eager to secure a move to White Hart Lane. Quagliarella however, could have been playing for Arsenal, after he was offered to the Gunners back in the summer.
But Sherwood could be close to securing his first piece of business as Spurs boss, as he looks to get the club back on track for a top-four finish. With summer signing Roberto Soldado only scoring five Premier League goals so far, Sherwood is keen to bolster his strike force.
Meanwhile, the futures of Etienne Capoue, Lewis Holtby and Nacer Chadli are all yet to be confirmed.
