Keisuke Honda

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has sneaked in to hijack a deal to sign highly rated CSKA Moscow forward Keisuke Honda, according to the Metro.

Honda is out of contract in the new year and so will be able to join Spurs for free, although many other European big guns are after the Japan internationals signature.

AC Milan were close to signing the 27 year old in the summer but failed to agree terms, but they are expected to come back in for the striker along with Napoli, Juventus, Monaco and Liverpool.

However Tottenham believe they have got their man and Villas-Boas has convinced Honda that White Hart Lane is the place for him, with the fact that the versatile forward is cup tied in the Champions League helping too.

With the lack of transfer fee, Spurs will be able to double Honda’s current £70,000 a week wage to seal the deal on January 1.
