The Telegraph are reporting that Spurs could replace Tim Sherwood with the Saints boss, who could be chosen over Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal, who will be out of work after the World Cup.
But Daniel Levy is keeping an eye of Pochettino’s contract talks with Southampton, believing the Argentine could be a better fit for the White Hart Lane side. Pochettino has successfully worked under a hands-on executive chairman, Nicola Cortese, and head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, and Levy believes the Saints boss could do well in London.
Southampton’s new director, Hans Hofstetter, that the club owe £27 million in outstanding transfer fees and face a £30 million bill for their new training ground. Their financial issues could frustrate Pochettino should it lead to the sales of their top players such as Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana. And Spurs are watching carefully incase that forces the Argentine manager to leave St. Mary’s.
Pochettino has guided Southampton to 8th place in the Premier League table, just 6 points behind Manchester United in 7th. After working wonders with the Saints, Levy could snub a move for van Gaal and ask Pochettino to move to London this summer.
