Spurs sold their talismanic Welshman last summer to Real Madrid in a world record £86m deal, and have struggled without him.
Erik Lamela – a £30m signing from Roma – was dubbed as the man to fill Bale’s boots, but the expensive Argentine endured a difficult debut season in England.
And now the Lilywhites are ready to dip into the transfer market once again in a bid to introduce a fresh talent to replace their departed star, with Griezmann the man they want.
The French winger has been earning rave reviews for his displays with Real Sociedad for some time, and is being tipped to move to England this summer after spurning contract talks with his current side.
This has alerted Spurs, who are now preparing a £25m offer.
The Lilywhites are understood to have submitted one bid already – around £20m – but have been told to come back and trigger his release clause if they want him.
Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen, but both clubs are chasing other targets.
