Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has confessed that his side could struggle to keep Christian Eriksen at the club this summer.
The Danish midfielder only joined Spurs from Ajax last year as a part of the club’s £110m post-Gareth Bale spend, and has been, arguably, the only one of the signings made at the time to have flourished.
After an initial slow start to life in England, Eriksen has now hit 12 goals for the Lilywhites while providing eight assists.
Tottenham had ambitions of breaking into the top four and qualifying for the Champions League this term, but with three games to go such hopes appear to be bleak.
Now Sherwood feels that things could get worse if big clubs come sniffing for the silky passer:
“You are always fearful that someone might come and take one of your best players, and Christian is certainly one. He is 22 , just turned. He has the head of a 35-year-old. He knows when to speed it up and slow it down.” He is quoted by The Mirror.
Eriksen himself has hinted at a potential move away from White Hart Lane, saying that he has a “secret plan” for his future.
