As we all know, despite spending nearly £110million on new recruits this summer, it’s been a rather disastrous campaign for Tottenham Hotspur. The North London club broke their transfer record fee three times in the off-season window, but neither £18million Paulinho, £26million Roberto Soldado nor £30million Erik Lamela have yet lived up to their lofty price-tags.
Now 6th place in the Premier League and one manager down, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy certainly wouldn’t turn his nose up at a refund.
The enormous transfer spend was sourced by Gareth Bale’s world-record-breaking £86million departure to Real Madrid. Having produced this tidy finish tonight in Los Blancos’ Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, the White Hart Lane faithful will undoubtedly be missing the Welsh wizard’s world-class influence.
Certainly a more potent finish than we’ve seen from Soldado this season! Sorry Spurs, no trade-backs.
