Tottenham are the latest Premier League side to enter the battle for Ashley Cole, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The former England international – who was recently dropped by Roy Hodgson for this summer’s World Cup – is set to officially leave Chelsea in the coming weeks with his contract due to come to an end.

Despite him having been a key man at Stamford Bridge for some time, the Blues were reluctant to offer him a new deal, with his wages and age, 33, a concern.

Liverpool have recently been linked with a shock move to take Cole to Anfield, but now it has emerged that Spurs are also keen.

Rumours suggest that the veteran is reluctant to join the Reds as they are a direct rival of Chelsea, and staying in London could also appeal to him.

A number of foreign clubs are interested in the decorated left-back, with Inter Milan considering a move as a part of their plans to nab Tom Ince from the clutches of some of England’s top clubs.

The Italians believe that the presence of Cole will help the young winger to settle in a new country.
