Eto’o is understood to be desperate to stay in English football, although his lofty wage demands have deterred the Reds as well as West Ham and Sunderland.
Now it’s reported that he’s been talking to Spurs, who are rumoured to be on the lookout for a new striker.
Mauricio Pochettino has Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane to call on, but none of the trio are seen as a guaranteed source of goals by the Argentine, who is keen to mould his largely inherited squad.
It remains to be seen as to whether or not Spurs will match Eto’o’s wage demands, with suggestion that he’s already rejected a £50,000-per-week contract at Liverpool.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a fine career in which he’s won titles in Spain and Italy as well as the Champions League.
