Tottenham will launch their move for Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino this week, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Argentine is rumoured to be Spurs’ top target to replace sacked coach Tim Sherwood on the back of impressive spell at St Mary’s Stadium.

Reports have indicated that the Londoners have made tentative enquiries regarding the South American, and now they are keen to follow this up with a formal proposal.

They are confident that the 42-year-old will move to White Hart Lane, with the Saints set to go through a summer of turmoil as top stars edge towards the exit door.

Pochettino’s arrival could also open the door for some of Southampton’s players to follow him.

With Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw closing in on moves to Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, Jay Rodriguez is seen as a potential target.

The versatile attacker is out of action with a serious knee injury as it stands, but it is understood that he will be fit in time for next season.
