The problems just keep on mounting for Andre Villas-Boas. November hasn’t proved to be a happy hunting ground for the Spurs coach with four defeats in their last five games is threatening to dent their hopes of finishing fourth and returning to the Champions League next season. One current gripe supporters have with Villas-Boas is his continued preference to play one central striker when the North London club are struggling for goals. He attracted their ire last week by selecting Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of Jermain Defoe, despite the England international plundering a hat trick in the Europa League just a few days prior. A reluctance to deviate from his favoured 4-3-3/4-3-2-1 system is hindering Spurs and that stubbornness could prove costly in the long run.
