The Romanian centre-back completed his move to White Hart Lane from Steaua Bucharest over the summer as a part of Andre Villas-Boas’ £108m revolution.
The 23-year-old was chased by a number of top European clubs, and has been tipped to develop into one of the continent’s top defenders, thanks to his elegant playing style.
Despite having only just arrived at Spurs, Chiriches’ agent, Victor Becali, believes that his client will move to Chelsea if he adapts well to English football, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho keen to snap up the Eastern European ace.
“If he has one or two good seasons at Tottenham, Chelsea will be willing to pay a large sum to buy Chiriches,” he told the Daily Star.
“Mourinho says he has been aware of him since he was at Real Madrid.”
Chiriches has made just one appearance for the Lilywhites since his £8.5m move to North London, taking part in the club’s 4-0 Capital One Cup demolition of Aston Villa.
He is currently seen as backup to Michael Dawson and Jan Vertonghen.
