Tottenham have offered £14m plus a season-long deal for Roberto Soldado to Sevilla to beat Liverpool to the signature of Alberto Moreno, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Reds were rumoured to have been closing in on the 21-year-old in recent days, with speculation suggesting that an agreement between the Merseysiders and the Europa League champions is all but sealed.

But Spurs are now in the mix as Mauricio Pochettino seeks a fresh signing to improve his left-back options.

The Argentine has given the green light to a move for Moreno – one of Spanish football’s most highly-rated players – and is even willing to sacrifice Soldado for a season to push through a swoop.

With negotiations between Liverpool and Sevilla not done – the Anfielders are offering around £20m while the La LIga side want closer to £25m – Tottenham’s proposal may appeal to them.

Soldado was a massive hit at Valencia prior to his ill-fated £26m move last summer, but his reputation in his homeland is still relatively unscathed.

Despite this, Brendan Rodgers’ side are still favourites with Champions League football a guarantee at the club for next season.
