The Aston Villa forward has had a terrific debut season in the Premier League, scoring 19 goals as he helped keep the Midlands club in the top division.
Andre Villas-Boas is ready to bring the Belgian to White Hart Lane, as the Portuguese manager looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer and the former Chelsea boss is reportedly ready to sign Benteke as a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, who has been tipped to leave the club this summer.
AVB had wanted to partner Christian Benteke with Barcelona forward David Villa, but the Spaniard’s agent has hinted the forward could join Fiorentina this summer, instead of Spurs.
Victor Onate, Villa’s agent, said: “I think it would be excessive to say there is formal interest by Fiorentina but we do know the type of interesting project they have in mind.
“I worked with Eduardo Macia, their technical director when we were at Valencia. We are friends and in constant communication.
“Fiorentina had a good season and their intention is to grow even more. David is focused on the Confederations Cup just now. Leaving a club like Barcelona is not easy and it depends on many factors, including next year’s World Cup.”
AVB will want to have his attacking options confirmed by August 17th, where Spurs face Crystal Palace on the opening day of the new season.
Will Benteke do well at Tottenham? Could they convince Villa to join as well?
