Tottenham that star midfielder Hernanes is off limits this summer.
Spurs have been linked with the Brazilian international – who is currently representing his nation at the Confederations Cup – for some time, with manager Andre Villas-Boas thought to be a big fan.
As well as the Londoners, Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen, which has prompted rumours that a bidding war may begin in the coming months.
But, Lazio president Claudio Lotito says that Hernanes will not be leaving the Italian capital due to his importance to the first-team:
“It is nice to know that Hernanes is liked, but we like him more than anybody else,” he is quoted by talkSPORT.
“We have no intention of selling him. Hernanes can not be touched because he is an integral part of the project here.”
The 28-year-old has earned much praise for his domestic performances since moving to Lazio from Sao Paulo In 2010, with many rating him as one of Serie A’s top midfield players.
His club form has led to international recognition, with the Selecao awarding him 14 caps, during which time he has netted twice.
AVB is said to see him as the ideal alternative to long-term target Joao Moutinho, who recently joined Monaco.
Could Hernanes be the missing piece of the jigsaw for Tottenham?
