Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas was happy to see his side return to winning ways as they claimed a 3-1 victory against West Ham.

Premier League defeats to Arsenal, Manchester City and Wigan in their last three games had seen AVB’s position come under increased scrutiny.

The Portuguese coach was pleased with his team’s performance, and glad they claimed the three points:

"I think it was a very good performance. We have been chasing a good, solid 90 minute performance for a while and we got it today very deservingly," he told SkySports.

"It was extremely important to get back to winning ways - particularly against a team who has been doing well in a London derby."

The game itself was marred by alleged anti-Semitic chanting from the sections of the West Ham fans.

Villas-Boas refused to pass comment on the travelling supporters’ actions and instead chose to focus on his team’s performance against their local rivals:

"I prefer not to mar the performance with a situation like this,

"You know the animosity there is between Tottenham and West Ham and as long as it doesn't reach stupidity it is a great, great rivalry of two London clubs.

"It would be extremely unfair for me to mar the performance of the players but understanding that a couple of situations are avoidable but we can't decipher the true meaning of what they were saying."

Jermain Defoe opened the scoring just before half-time with a fine individual effort.

Gareth Bale doubled Spurs’ lead after 58 minutes, before Defoe added his second of the game.

The Hammers pulled one back late on through Andy Carroll.
