Andre Villas-Boas is ready to move for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao after losing Jermain Defoe to injury for a month, the Independent report.

After completing a deal to bring forward Lewis Holtby’s proposed summer move from Schalke, the Tottenham boss is set to ramp up his efforts to bring a new striker to White Hart Lane .

With Defoe was ruled out until March at the latest with a pelvic injury and Emmanuel Adebayor still at the African Cup of Nations, Clint Dempsey is the only senior attacking option at Villas-Boas’ disposal.

The Portuguese coach is now ready to revive his interest in Damiao and has requested that chairman Daniel Levy signs the Brazilian international before the transfer window closes its doors on Thursday.

Levy has chased the 23-year-old since the summer of 2011 but has came across various complications preventing him from completing the transfer and could wait until the summer.

Should Villas-Boas fail to land Damiao he will switch his attentions to Spain forward Alvaro Negredo or Celtic’s Gary Hooper, who is also interesting Norwich.

Sevilla are keen to get Negredo off the books after falling into financial difficulty and could allow the 27-year-old to leave for less than his £15m asking price.
