After missing out on David Villa, following his £4.4 million move to Atletico Madrid, Roberto Soldado should provide a more than adequate alternative at White Hart Lane.

Soldado scored an impressive 30 goals in all competitions last season, including 24 in a La Liga side that finished 5th. Missing out on the Champions League by just a point could prove pivotal in Valencia’s bid to keep their star striker-with Tottenham ready to pounce. Despite the lack of Champions League football at the lane this season, Soldado may feel a fresh challenge is in order. In addition, when you’re Valencia its almost certainly harder to unseat Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the domestic table than it is for Tottenham to do the same to either Manchester United or Manchester City.

A significant moment for Soldado was undoubtedly Vincente Del Bosque placing his faith in him at the Confederations Cup. Soldado firmly put himself in the shop window by scoring a couple of goals in the competition. As we know, Spain isn’t the easiest team to get into and Soldado more than acquitted himself amongst some of the world’s finest players. He may feel a move to Tottenham could advance his game and secure a coveted place on the Spanish plane to the World Cup in Brazil at the end of the 2013-14 season.

What can Tottenham fans expect from Soldado? Well if the reported £25 million fee is true, you are most certainly buying a player at the peak of his career at 28. He is playing some of the best football of his career-scoring 30 or more goals in every season since 2009. Finding proven frontman has been a problem position for Spurs in the last few years and looking at the stats one can conclude that Soldado provides a lot of the answers to dragging questions for the North Londoners.
