Disgraced former West Brom Albion striker Nicolas Anelka is set to team up with Ronaldinho by completing a shock move to Brazilian side Atletico Miniero, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Frenchman has been without a club since being sacked by West Brom last month, following his controversial ‘quenelle’ gesture.
But a Twitter post from Atletico president Alexandre Kalil, appears to claim Anelka has signed for the Brazilian club, which also has Ronaldinho in it’s ranks.
Kalil posted the words “Anelka e do galo” which translates as “Anelka is a rooster,” which refers to the club’s cockerel mascot, however the club are yet to confirm the signing.
The deal could yet be delayed however, with the FA adamant that Anelka should serve his five match ban for the apparent anti-semitic gesture he made whilst celebrating a goal for the Baggies in December.
Anelka’s time in the Premier League ended farcically, when the former Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea forward claimed he had terminated his contract with West Brom shortly after the ban was imposed, only for the club to come out and say they had sacked him.
