West Brom’s wantaway striker Peter Odemwingie may seek sanctuary in the Championship as the Football League loan window re-opens, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Crystal Palace are already in discussion with Albion over taking the Nigerian international to Selhurst Park for the remainder of the season in order to continue their pursuit on the Premier League.

Odemwingie’s £39,000-a-week wages may be problem for most if not all of the clubs in the Championship and so a compromise will have to be made.

Palace however have just received £15million from Manchester United for Wilfried Zaha and are happy to begin reinvesting the money to ensure top flight football next season and beyond.

The Eagles will be able to sign the striker permanently in the summer if his loan move is a success but they are now not the only club interested in taking the pacey striker on loan with Leeds United, Blackpool and Hull ready to make a move.

West Brom are happy to let the 31-year-old leave on loan after the dressing room lost faith in him after an embarrassing deadline day drive down to Queens Park Rangers.
