The young forward – who incidentally is heavily tipped to make it into Roy Hodgson’s next England squad – netted against Crystal Palace over the weekend, and has impressed everyone at the Hawthorns with his early season performances.
Saturday’s strike was his sixth in just nine appearances over the course of his debut season, of which the highlight was a superb winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Baggies are keen to offer their newest star a new contract, as he is currently on just £850 a week at the Hawthorns and may well be tempted by a more lucrative offer from another club.
There were suggestions a new deal was all but sealed, but those rumours have been dismissed after it was revealed Berahino was offered a new contract worth just £7,000 a week.
Big spending French giants Monaco are thought to be monitoring the situation, while Premier League duo Arsenal and Everton have also been linked.
But Baggies boss Steve Clarke is desperate to keep hold of the England under-21 star, and hopes to sort a new contract as soon as possible, considering the forward will have just a year left on his current deal in the summer.
