As reported by ESPN, West Ham are plotting a January move for Bournemouth's star striker Callum Wilson as they look for an answer to their Premier League goalscoring problem.

What's the word?

The goalscoring of the West Ham striking department is notoriously sparse this season with summer signings Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri struggling to make the grade in London. Andy Carroll can bang them in but he doesn't have the best injury record. The only other option Diafra Sakho is also struggling with injuries this season.

They need goals and they need them quick, else they will face a hard relegation battle in the new year.

Step forward Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, who ESPN report is one of Bilic's top targets in the coming January transfer window.

They reckon the Hammers have been keeping tabs on the striker ever since he scored a hat-trick against them at the start of the last season.

It'd be intriguing move if it comes off and would no doubt go some way to alleviating fans' concern about being relegated to the Championship.

Is he the right man?

We actually included Wilson in our gallery of the 5 targets that should be on Bilic's Christmas wishlist so either the West Ham manager is an avid Football Fancast reader or Santa is just very good to him.

Wilson has scored 5 goals in 13 appearances for Bournemouth this season and looks to be getting back to the form that catapulted The Cherries to the Premier League from the Championship.

He most recently kickstarted last Sunday's comeback that saw Bournmouth beat Liverpool 4-3, coolly slotting home from a penalty.

He'd certainly offer West Ham a different type of option to Andy Carroll and has a nose for goal that no-one else currently has at the club.

In return Wilson would be getting the opportunity to play for the biggest club of his career having turned out for Coventry, Kettering Town and Tamworth in seasons past.

It seems like a marriage made in heaven but can Bilic and the club pull it off?
