Deadline day is approaching, so as we get ready for Sky Sports’ yellow bonanza and gear up for a late night of refreshing our Internet browsers, there’s the chance that late, late deals could yet go through.

One side who could do some late business is West Ham, who are keen to build on a good start to the season and keep their top four hopes alive.

Sam Allardyce made some excellent summer additions, such as Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia, so he could be backed financially once again, with Champions League qualification no longer a mere pipedream.

So, with that in mind, take a look at these five and let's see if we can convince Big Sam to dip into his pocket.

Darren Fletcher

Fletcher

Few would have predicted this one before January got rolling, but Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher looks like he could be set to join the Hammers before the deadline passes. The Scotland international has endured a tough few years with injury and illness, but he’s returned to action of late, albeit in a relatively limited role at Old Trafford. The player himself is thought to be keen on a switch to east London – with West Ham similarly interested – but a hold-up surrounding his contract at United remains an issue. The club are willing to let him leave for free, but are not open to paying off the remainder of his deal, which could be an issue as the Irons are unlikely to be able to match his salary demands.

Yevhan Konoplyanka

Konoplyanka

Linked with West Ham last year, the Ukrainian ace may be the subject of deadline day talk… as he was last January amid suggestions Liverpool came within hours of a deal. Konoplyanka’s Dnipro deal expires at the end of the season, and although there have been claims that interested parties will have to wait until his a free agent, bids of £7m are thought to be enough to sway his employers’ stance this month.

Aleksandar Dragovic

Aleksandar Dragovic

While Manchester United have been the side most heavily linked with Dragovic of late, West Ham are another side in the running. The Londoners have been scouting the Austrian since late last year, and could offer him a greater chance of first-team football than the Red Devils. Currently in Ukrainian football with Dynamo Kiev, it’s likely the 23-year-old could be lured to the glamorous world of the Premier League for the right offer…

Stephen Hendrie

Celtic v Hamilton Academical - Scottish Premiership

BBC Sport claim talks are underway between West Ham and the Hamilton Academical left-back, who has travelled to London. Although a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer is a possibility, the same reports claims that a fee of around £2m may be enough to get the deal over the line before next week.

Dan Burn

Burn

A giant centre-back, Burn shone at the back end of last season as Fulham slipped to relegation, and has been aligned with the Hammers in recent months. Links kicked off late last year, although a swoop for the towering defender may hinge on the future of Winston Reid.

Burn, 22, measures in at 6ft. 7”, and has, naturally, been praised for his aerial ability.
