West Ham moved stadium this summer, did you hear?

Apparently there was a murmuring on Sky Sports at some point last year, something about leaving a ground? Yeah, that one. People enjoyed getting very angry about all the coverage and it was a bit silly.

Now they call the London Stadium their home, anyway. The Hammers have claimed one of the great arenas in European sport and made it their own. Making it their own, unfortunately, hasn't been the most aesthetically pleasing process. Fans at the top of the stands are advised to bring binoculars with them.

As a footballing home, it's good for revenue, if not perfect for the fans. The much-improved capacity must be doing the accounts a heck of a lot of good. And fans will - hopefully - feel that revenue boost in the form of squad investment over the next few years.

Oddly, rather than calling it the Olympic Stadium - which is, y'know, what it is - they have renamed it the London Stadium.

Not only does this sound like a rather uninventive PES name, it's a little misleading, isn't it? Could it have been called the Olympic Stadium still? That would've made an almighty chunk of sense.

What else could they have called it, I hear you say. Well, any of these five names would've been better...

East London Field

West Ham United v FC Astra Giurgiu - UEFA Europa League Qualifying Play-Off Second Leg

Continuing on the Pro Evo theme, East London Field would at least have played on some sort of cheery, Xbox-related memories for the troubled, cliched '90s kids'.

Other alternatives could include 'London Park', 'Claret and Blue Stadium' or 'East End Arena'.

New Upton Boleyn Park

Upton Park, Boleyn Ground

Few seemed to be able to decide whether they wanted to call the Irons' old ground Upton Park or the Boleyn Ground, one way to counter-act this; use both names.

Yeah, yeah, it looks a little silly, but it's no more foolish than spending a significant sum of money on players who immediately get injured or playing Michail Antonio as a right-back, is it?

Think of it as some nostalgia, some hilarious, mockable nostaliga.

The Olympic Stadium

Olympic Stadium

Bit of a left-field one, yeah, but would it have been insane to call it by it's name?

It seems a little unnecessary to change the name just because someone fancied it, doesn't it?

All the nonsense talk of Olympic 'legacy' has bored many people to tears since 2012 and, at least if the name was retained, we could've grasped on to the notion that the Olympics had some long running benefit to the general public of the United Kingdom.

Stadium London

West Ham United v AFC Bournemouth - Premier League

It's the same concept as the current name (don't want to upset the big wigs) but it's different.

How damn exciting. The Australians called their Olympic Stadium 'Stadium Australia' so can the British version just copy them, because we love the Australians now, don't we? Australian-style points system and all that jazz.

Really though, even something as simplistically tedious as this would be better than 'London Stadium'.

Who on earth named it that?!
