French club Marseille are set to bid for West Ham striker Modibo Maiga to replace QPR bound Loic Remy according to talkSPORT.

Remy joined Queens Park Rangers for £8million this week and is set to face West Ham this afternoon as he makes his Rangers debut at Upton Park.

The Hammers have signed strikers Marouane Chamakh and Wellington Paulista on loan already this month and are the favourites to sign Nicolas Anelka before the transfer window shuts.

Add Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole to the striker list in the East End and Maiga may find it extremely hard to battle his way into the squad when he returns from African Cup of Nations duty with Mali.

The 25-year-old has started just two Premier League games for the Hammers but has scored four goals in all competitions since his summer move from Sochaux.

However if Maiga was to leave Upton Park this month and then all the loan and out of contract players also leave in the summer, West Ham will be left with no senior strikers at the club.
