Sharing Belgian nationality and Romelu Lukaku’s mixture of strength and agility, Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke is the most like-minded alternative to the Chelsea prodigy the Premier League currently has to offer.
The 23 year-old offers a potent aerial threat at 6 foot 3 but is also quick off the mark and his technical quality often goes unaccredited – Benteke is no tica-taca master, but has continually demonstrated a smart mind and clever feet on the break throughout his Villains tenure.
The Belgium international is reliable in front of goal too; although he’s struggled for fitness and form at times this season, he still boasts an exceptional return of 29 goals in 60 Premier League outings following his move to Villa Park from FC Genk in summer 2012.
Resultantly however, the Birmingham outfit have landed Benteke with a £20million price-tag, which would engulf the vast majority of West Ham’s summer budget.
Likewise, he’s caught attention from Arsenal, Spurs and Everton in the past, so competition for his signature will be fierce.
