West Ham United were boosted by Dimitri Payet last season, whose 12 goals helped the Hammers to a 7th place finish in the Premier League.

Their final points tally of 62 signifies their highest ever points total in the Premier League era, and manager Slaven Bilic is looking to build on his squad to climb up the table even further this term.

The Croat will be looking to add a striker and central midfielder to enhance his side's attacking threat further, particularly with the prospect of Europa League football on the horizon as well.

So here are eight players West Ham would be mad not to target this summer…

Samuel Umtiti

Umtiti

Umtiti is one of the few defensive players on West Ham’s radar this summer.

The Cameroon-born France U21 international is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

Umtiti, 22, is currently valued at £11.25m. The Lyon centre back made 30 appearances last season, scoring one goal.

Ante Coric

A coveted attacking midfielder from Croatia, Ante Coric is rumoured to be on the receiving end of a £10m offer from West Ham.

Coric is a member of Croatia’s Euro 2016 squad, and is under contract with Dinamo Zagreb until 2020. However, a hefty transfer fee could change that rather quickly.

Coric, 19, registered four goals and five assists in 28 appearances last season.

Roberto Pereyra

Pereyra was hampered by injuries last season, only appearing in 16 games all year with Juventus.

Pereyra, 25, is an extremely creative playmaker.

Just a year ago, Juventus bought the Argentina international for £10.5m but now they are looking for around £17m since they have him under contract until 2020.

Pereyra registered four goals and three assists in 35 Serie A outings in 2014/15.

After winning a Turkish title with Besiktas last term, Töre may be on the move in the summer.

Töre, 24, registered four goals and seven assists in 24 appearances in the Super Lig.

Could Töre now be on his way back to London, where he recently resided with Chelsea?

Valued at £12m by his Turkish club, West Ham is believed to have offered £8.5m, so negotiations are ongoing to find a price to be agreed upon.

Could The Hammers be the team to lure Theo Walcott away from Arsenal?

Walcott, 27, saw a reduced role at Emirates Stadium last season, especially during the final period of games. The England international appeared in 28 matches, registering five goals and three assists in the Premier League.

Walcott’s current market value is £18.75m, which is a bit high for his performances and inability to stay fit in recent years.

Carlos Bacca

Carlos Bacca had a productive season in his first year with AC Milan, but will it also be his only season with the Italian side?

The centre forward scored 18 goals in 38 appearances in  Serie A, and the Columbian international also scored two goals in five Coppa Italia outings.

AC Milan reportedly value the 29-year old at £19m, which led to West Ham’s offer of £15m being rejected last month.

Jonathan Calleri

Calleri, a centre forward, is in the process of finishing his loan with São Paulo.

The Argentina international scored 12 goals in 24 appearances with São Paulo last season.

West Ham are reportedly considering a loan move for the 22-year old forward.

Michy Batshuayi

A promising season in Ligue 1 has led to Batshuayi drawing strong interest from the Premier League and other clubs.

Batshuayi, 22, scored nine goals in 26 appearances for Marseille two season ago before becoming a one of Ligue 1's most feared strikers last term.

The Belgium international registed 17 goals and nine assists in 36 Ligue 1 outings, which led to him being tracked by a number of elite clubs across Europe.

After admitting he was attracted to a move to the Premier League, West Ham will have to battle it out with Tottenham to secure the services of the centre forward, who has a £11.25m market value.
