West Ham travel to Anfield this weekend hoping to avenge the embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Arsenal that occurred in front of their home supporters last Saturday.

The move to the London Stadium has not gone to plan, and the Hammers are currently languishing in 17th place, staring at a potential relegation battle.

However, during the week, Irons manager Slaven Bilic faced crisis talks with the club's owners who reiterated their support for the Croatian manager, albeit stating results have to pick up.

On the contrary, Liverpool's biggest issue is attempting to close the gap between themselves and Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League. The void was recently widened following the Reds' defeat to Bournemouth last weekend, but only four points separate them from the leaders, so it's all to play for.

It's a stark contrast to West Ham's current worries, but both clubs will be desperate for three points for their respective causes.

One thing that is guaranteed is goals, but to ensure victory, this is the starting XI Slaven Bilic must pick...

GK: Darren Randolph

In all honesty, what sort of scoreline would the defeat to Arsenal have been if Darren Randolph wasn't performing miracles?

Since being given his opportunity in the first-team, Randolph has become the Irons' stand out performer - which is a worrying thought.

The Republic of Ireland international deserves to start ahead of the out-of-form Adrian, and another Irish miracle could see West Ham record back-to-back victories at Anfield.

The Spanish right-back has not featured for the Hammers in the league this season, but with injuries forced upon Bilic, he may have no option but to play the Spaniard at his former club.

The pace and speed of Liverpool's attacking front three make this a worrying inclusion for Bilic and the consequences could be devastating for all parties.

Nonetheless, Arbeloa, who is 33-years-old, oozes experience.

CB: Winston Reid

Winston Reid

The New Zealand international has been dependable throughout his Hammers career. As it stands, Reid is the Irons' highest rated defender, according to Whoscored.com, this season, but his performances have been less than convincing.

Against Liverpool, Reid has the difficult task of containing the in-form Divock Origi, and unless he is solid defensively, it's difficult to imagine a West Ham victory.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna

Italian international Ogbonna hasn't enjoyed the West Ham career many were predicting when he joined the club from Juventus in 2015, but he's a regular fixture in Bilic's XI now and will need to be at his best at Anfield.

Up against the Reds, Ogbonna's presence in defence could cause some problems for the Liverpool front line, while he could also cause havoc for the shaky Reds defence on set-pieces.

LB: Arthur Masuaku

Arthur Masuaku

Following Aaron Cresswell's injury against Manchester United, Bilic is now forced to call upon Masuaku once again.

The left-back has yet become a fan favourite at the club but a good performance at Anfield may end all doubts surrounding his capability of performing in the Premier League.

Stopping Sadio Mane is a task not many have managed this season. Good luck, Arthur!

CM: Edimilson Fernandes

It's about time Bilic rings the changes in the first-team, and one player deserving of his chance to impress is Edimilson Fernandes.

The Swiss midfielder has impressed on his cameo appearances this season, and his impact could be similar to Reece Oxford's against Arsenal last season.

Dynamic displays are evidently missing from the first-team, and Fernandes could provide the energy to help overcome the fluid Reds midfield trio.

CM: Mark Noble

Bilic can't even consider dropping Noble at the moment, as he remains one of a small minority that is playing for the shirt and the cause of combatting relegation.

Noble is going to be crucial in breaking up the play of Liverpool, and the return to fitness of Adam Lallana will cause a bigger headache than can be imagined.

CM: Manuel Lanzini

One of the biggest issues Bilic has had to combat is the lack of form from key players such as Lanzini.

Now, at Anfield, the Argentine midfielder must prove his worth in the side and his creativity will be a key component to overcoming the rampant Reds.

Lanzini's talent is evident but he must deliver on a more consistent basis.

LW: Dimitri Payet

Like Lanzini, Payet falls into the bracket of yet another player not performing when West Ham are in desperate need of inspiration.

Payet has become somewhat of a cult hero at the club also but has too regularly been a passenger this term.

A big goal, an inspiring performance or even just a killer ball to the strikers could be all that is required to help the Hammers get out of the rut they currently find themselves in.

RW: Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew v Chelsea's John Terry

The club's record signing has failed to have much of an impact following his move from Swansea City in August. Ayew proved his Premier League capability last season, but now he must deliver for the Hammers.

Ayew comes up against James Milner at left-back, and this is the sort of contest the Ghanaian should be eager for. A big performance could go a long way in paying back some of his £20.5million price tag.

ST: Andy Carroll

In nine minutes against Arsenal last weekend, Andy Carroll become the Hammers' joint highest-scoring forward this season.

The importance of Carroll to Bilic's side cannot be understated, and another goal against his former club could prove invaluable in their fight against relegation.

Hopefully, for Bilic, it won't be another consolation in another thumping from an aspiring title winning team.
