Given the revelation that was last season at West Ham, money says you wouldn't have bet on them being in the relegation zone with five games gone this season.

Well if you did make that bet you are a braver man than me, as the only thing unsurprising thus far in what has been a dreadful West Ham season has been the form of Michail Antonio, who is rapidly becoming a Hammers Hero.

The dazzling form and displays of last season seem a thing of the past, and the side that were, at one point, in contention for Champions League football find themselves in a horribly familiar place, having been relegated from the Premier League on two previous occasions over the years.

It is also unfamiliar territory for manager Slaven Bilic having enjoyed life in the top half last season, and while it is certainly far too early to be discussing it, talks with regards to his future at the club have already begun to circulate.

A turnaround is inevitable, but the former Besiktas manager will have to rely heavily on these three if he to get himself out of trouble...

Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio

Possibly the Premier League's form player currently, Antonio has been brilliant so far this season - even if the rest of his team-mates haven't.

Five goals already - all headers - make the winger the joint top scorer in the Premier League with Diego Costa, continuing in a similar vein to his nine goals last season. Direct, pacy and brilliant in the air, the former Forest man more than deserves his England call-up.

Dimitri Payet

Manchester City v West Ham United - Barclays Premier League

Absent through injury at the start of the season we all know the brilliant Frenchman is one of the best midfielders in the league.

He has shown some glimpse of his brilliance in defeats at Watford and West Brom, including an incredible rabona assist, but he's yet to get in amongst the goals.

Give him time and a bit of confidence, though, and the Hammers will have their star player back soon enough.

Winston Reid

Reid

That's eight goals leaked in two just games for the hapless Hammers now, which obviously points the finger of blame clearly in one direction.

While they are still scoring, West Ham's back four are leaking goal more often than Jurgen Klopp breaks his glasses. While Reid hasn't technically been at fault too much, his leadership is essential in helping rebuild a wounded back four.

A clean sheet in the next game should do him and his fellows defenders the world of good.
