After successfully seeing off Liverpool last time out at the Boleyn Ground, and subsequently putting a rather abrupt end to Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of winning the FA Cup in his debut season on Merseyside, the good times have continued for West Ham in 2015/16 – and they just don’t look like letting up any time soon…

The Hammers remain well placed within the top half of the Premier League table, the likes of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini have proven to be revelations, while the football being played is effective and attractive. And as Slaven Bilic’s side still march on in the FA Cup with Paul Lambert’s Blackburn Rovers next on the agenda, maybe this current West Ham outfit are almost on the verge of achieving something truly special in the club’s last ever season at the Boleyn Ground.

So then, with talk of Slaven Bilic being offered a new long-term contract that will possibly keep him at the club until 2021 at the very least, does the current Hammers boss deserve to be honoured in such a way after spending less that one whole season in the often testing Upton Park dug-out?

Well, even though collective opinion among the Boleyn Ground faithful was initially split regarding their Croatian tactician at the start of the 2015/16 campaign, few West Ham fans ultimately show much trepidation or concern towards Bilic right in the here and now.

The former Hammers centre-back has taken to his managerial duties in the East End of London in very impressive style this season it must be said, turning a once rather one-dimensional team ('proudly' shaped and moulded by his predecessor, Sam Allardyce) into a progressive, impressive possession-based unit that can seemingly beat any supposedly superior Premier League outfit on its day.

Whilst West Ham’s success among the English top flight hasn’t been quite as dramatic as Claudio Ranieri and Leicester City's, Bilic nonetheless deserves a great deal of praise for restoring a much-needed sense of identity back at the Boleyn Ground this season.

Many carelessly tipped West Ham as outside relegation battlers upon Bilic's arrival in light of the decision to part ways with 'Big Sam' at the end of the 2014/15 campaign – a tried and tested manager with a notorious reputation for knowing what it takes to survive within the English top-flight. The enigmatic Croatian coach has nevertheless impressed greatly at Upton Park thus far, and although it remains to be seen whether or not Bilic has what it takes to become a long-term success with his current employers, the immediate future certainly looks bright for the Boleyn Ground faithful with the 47-year-old tactician at the helm.

With the former Croatia international calling the shots this season, everyone at West Ham – from the players, coaches, chairmen and paying supporters themselves – seems to pulling in the right direction for a change. The east London club must therefore do everything within their power to make sure Slaven Bilic stays for the foreseeable future, and possibly even beyond that!
