West Ham are keen to seal a deal for Catania striker Maxi Lopez, according to reports from the East London & West Essex Guardian.

The Hammers are believed to be desperate to bolster their attacking line before next week’s transfer deadline passes, with Big Sam’ having had to go through much of the season so far with limited firepower.

Even though Andy Carroll is now back from his injury woes, Lopez is on the club’s radar.

The Argentine – who spent some of his early career at Barcelona – is believed to be keen to leave Catania before the end of the month, which could open up the possibility of a loan deal.

It is thought that he would jump at the chance to join the Irons, with the lure of Premier League football too strong.

The Hammers have also been linked with Rickie Lambert and Graziano Pelle in recent weeks.

Lopez has endured a stop-start career and has move to various clubs across the globe – including River Plate, FC Moscow and AC Milan – but failed to truly settle at any despite having shown signs of promise on multiple occasions.
