West Ham's move to the Olympic Stadium in 2016 has been shrouded in controversy from the very beginning.

The Hammers faithful were sceptical, while fellow Londoners Tottenham and Leyton Orient tried their hardest to get a piece of the pie.

And now, with West Ham planning extensively for their big move away from the Boleyn Ground, there are a number of changes co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan are trying to put in place.

And the biggest one of them all is a re-design of the club's crest. The initial idea was welcomed by a large section of West Ham fans who, despite recognising the historic values behind the club's crest, understood the reasons behind a re-design ahead of a new and potential exciting era in the Olympic Stadium.

But that's where the enthusiasm ends. The club released their design last week and the feedback from fans was negative as they rejected the plans.

As a result, you'd have expected the club to go back to the drawing board and try something else in order to appease the fans that are longing to be pleased after a difficult 12 months under Sam Allardyce.

That's where you're wrong. Instead, West Ham announced today that an online poll proved a 77% vote in FAVOUR of their proposed crest design and that the club will now press ahead with implementing it as of the club's first season in Stratford in two seasons' time.

And, as you can imagine, the Hammers fans are furious, with many suggesting the club are lying to them about the statistics found in the poll and that they are ignoring their calls for a redesign.

Here's how Twitter reacted...
