West Ham United appear determined to land Brentford striker Scott Hogan after the club tabled a £12m bid, reports Sky Sports.

The Hammers’ pursuit of the 24-year-old has sparked a mixed reaction from supporters, with some urging the club to get the deal done, while others are baffled by the price tag.

Sky Sports state that West Ham have already had a £10m offer rejected by the Bees, who are believed to be holding out for a fee closer to £15m.

Slaven Bilic is in need of more firepower up front, and considering that Jermain Defoe is unlikely to return to the East London outfit this month, Hogan’s proven goalscoring ability could be the best option.

West Ham have scored 23 goals in 20 Premier League matches this season, and Michail Antonio is the team’s leading scorer on eight.

Simone Zaza has failed to make an impact since arriving at the club, while Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll have struggled with injuries.

It is clear that an attacking player is high up on West Ham’s transfer wishlist this month, but it does not seem that all fans are convinced that Hogan is the right man.
