West Ham have asked Firoentina about the availability of centre-back Facundo Roncaglia, according to talkSPORT.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has been left short of centre-halves ahead Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.

James Tomkins is sidelined with a hamstring injury and James Collins is suspended due to his red card against Tottenham last weekend.

That leaves only Winston Reid as Allardyce’s only centre-back, although new arrival Cheikhou Kouyate is capable of filling in when required.

But Allardyce is still eager to bring in more defensive options due to his reluctance to go a season with just three established centre-backs on the books.

The Argentina international has also attracted interest from Genoa this summer, but a move to the Premier League could be too tempting to turn down for the 27-year-old.
