Stephen Ireland has been linked with a possible transfer to Everton and Stoke City, which has brought certain resentment by fans.

After a three-year flop at Aston Villa, the Villans have told the Irishman he is free to look for another club. Even though his performance has gone downhill, ever since leaving Manchester City, rumour has it that he is still approached by other Premier League clubs.

However, certain fans have made their pessimism known on Twitter as they are not convinced by his performance, such as the fact that last season he merely started nine games.

New Stoke manager, Mark Hughes, has worked with Ireland during their time at Man City and is rumoured to be keen on reuniting with the midfielder.

I dont know what the fuss is about stephen ireland. The tweets about how bad he is and that clubs dont want him. He is a perfect fit for Everton next season. An expensive substitute as cover. He would fit in martinez’s plan’s for champions league football. It’s just a rumor, so everton fans wont be expecting him at their club next season. At everton martinez can be more ambitious and has a chairman and a club with more influence in bringing in better talent than ireland. Its a no go everton fans for this transfer, it’s forward or backwards for martinez.

Stoke on the other hand could be the more credible of the two clubs to offer ireland a first team slot. Hughes is more traditional as a manager and likes home grown players. supporters, Unless you see rumors actually coming directly from the clubs themselves on their official websites.

Having made two quick signings I thought Stoke really were moving
forward, but we have the same old pattern,Stoke tracking this name
Stoke tracking that name, this or that name on Stokes radar and then
just missing the lot, this reek,s off two faced Coates, whatever MC
says(is one sure Pulis as gone).

do clubs not realise stephen ireland is available, we’ll take £50 and a pack of hobnobs for him

why waste a whole packet of hobnobs, i’m sure just one or two out the pack will be enough

Showed glimpses of brilliance in one game once I think! Should be an example to our young lions! Not interested in my opinion! Easy money for him! May be Hughes will make him the player he was once but wouldn’t make our reserve squad now!
